Blog
My first post, or Why this blog exists….April 6th, 2006
I decided to redesign my website and personal blog to something a little more tame and kinda within the focus of my personal interests. I spend more time on reading and personal development than anything else and I had previously toyed with the idea of making a learning blog but that never really went anywhere. Then when personal stuff kinda went haywire I decided a nice start over would help and I “Nuked” my homepage and associated other pages and started over. This is my blog, it is about all the ideas, methods and ways of learning that you may or may not know about. They will also contain many new and exciting developments I am working on in this area. There is more and more evidence among scientific research that IQ as we currently define it is plastic (changeable) and can be changed for the better or worse depending on the environment and personal effort. This is typically put of as the learning effect yet the way they measure IQ is highly dependent on personal learning and experience. Even a slight variation in the environment can produce wide changes in test results and even when averaged these can change for the better or worse depending on situation. As such the first link I am posting is a link to the WikiPedia about Learning. It is a good description of the general Ideas I will be working with and if you delve deeper into the associated links you will run across many of the concepts I am talking about. Other things usually not taken into consideration is the psychology of the person being tested and how that has affected there current knowledge level and education, not to mention their physical health. This brings into play another link I am posting. This concerns a simple but highly effective method success in learning, education and life in general. Discipline, and I do not mean the kind with the switch or whip lol. Usually this seems to be taken in a bad context but it is a huge and highly important subject that is difficult to learn but easy to explain. Simply put, Discipline is the art of doing what you plan and intend when and how you plan it. Deviations from this plan are as much as possible avoided and distractions are eliminated or ignored. The opposite of discipline as far as I can find is procrastination. This is generally a need to avoid work and in the process seems to create more work that is more difficult and usually endless and pointless. Here is a free website Called “The School of Self-Discipline” about how to achieve your goals and discipline yourself. Overall my goal for this website is to post 1 or more times in a day concerning learning and knowledge development. Well that is a pretty heavy first post so Last Updated (Thursday, 05 November 2009 14:22) |
